Well we know, 2¹ = 2. Do you know that 2^-1 = 1/2? If you didn’t, here is an easy and funny way to remember. In 2¹ both the 2 and 1 are positive & happy. But when a negative 1 comes, they don’t get along, so 1 builds a border (the division symbol / ), so now it is 1/2.
